Mafini Sarratou Dosso, PhD, currently serves as the Economist and Policy Analyst and Leader of the project ‘Smart Specialisation Strategies with Africa’ at the European Commission Joint Research Centre (EU JRC) in Seville, Spain. She has extensive experience in producing scientific evidence for innovation policy and in supporting Sub-Saharan African countries to develop and strengthen their innovation policies and systems for sustainable development. She has over 14 years professional experience on research and innovation policies and analyzing innovation systems and technological and industrial development at micro and macro-economic levels.
Prior to joining the EU JRC, she was a consultant and policy research analyst for various projects including for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) where she contributed to the drafting of the thematic sections for Innovation Policy Platform Initiative, a joint OECD & World Bank project to support innovation policy making.
Mafini also belongs to the Grant Independent Technical Committee of the PASET-Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF). The Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET) is an Africa-led initiative with the objective of strengthening the science, technology and engineering capability in sub-Saharan Africa to further its socio-economic transformation.
Ms. Dosso is fluent in French, English and Spanish and holds a doctorate in Economics with a specialisation in National Innovation and Industrial Systems and Policies from the University of Paris, Panthéon-Sorbonne. She is also supporting the promotion of youth entrepreneurs in her native country Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa) and beyond through international and local associations on the continent.
